Blog News Blog News Blog News

This just in, Gordon has finally moved out his parents’ place! This means that, due to not having internet in his new digs, he will be absent from the blog for a little while.

If you wake up on Wednesday mornings expecting to dig into a little E&GT [Evan and Gordon Talk] like a new box of cereal, Gordon’s move can be likened to the following gif:

No cereal for you.

This just means that I’m going to be pulling double-duty for the next little while, doing a Shame Day and a 2 Broke Girls review today, as well as finding some way of filling in Wednesday’s post. And then Thursday and Friday after that.

Basically look forward to a lot of me.

Evan out.

This Week Has Been Inconsistent, So Instead Of A Real Post Here’s An Apology

It’s 8 in the morning. I’m trying to rack my brain for a topic that I can write about in a little under an hour, because I have a meeting I have to go to at 10. Then I realize, wait, we’ve already hit our five required posts for the week-

Since our E&GT was a day late this week I also wrote a post about the Indiana Jones movies to fill in a little,  so that  means we’re where we already should be on a Friday morning.

I’d like to apologize again as the founder of this blog for things being so shaky this week. Gordon had more or less a good excuse for posting late on Monday, but I didn’t really for not being online to write E&GT with him on Tuesday night.

Suffice to say, I’m sorry. Maybe I’ll put a post up later tonight, but the more likely [and probably wiser] option is that I’ll try to write ahead for next week and do some of the posts that take a little more research. Thanks, as usual, for tuning in. Maybe skim the archives for anything you find interesting?

EDIT: Actually, now that I’ve started reviewing 2 Broke Girls every week we put up six posts, but I still feel bad.

I Have Disappointed You All [A Post by Gordon, Title by Evan]

There will be a slight delay on Monday’s post due to factors outside of my control. Be assured that I will be chastised mercilessly for this, and take comfort in knowing that you will be nevertheless receiving a post, as well as that my spirit will be broken as a result.

You people are cruel, you know that?

2012 In Review [This Is The Last Post]

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

4,329 films were submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. This blog had 46,000 views in 2012. If each view were a film, this blog would power 11 Film Festivals

2012: The End

Not of the blog, of the year. Or posts for the year, to be more specific. I just got back from two days camping to see that the world had not ended, which was marvelous news. Life, and the internet, as we knows it moves on, and so does Culture War Reporters.

As I am currently in Thailand for the holidays, and both Gordon and I are sorely in need of a break, this will be the last post of 2012. A lot has happened, but I’m going to leave that up to my co-writer, as he’s responsible for a lot of them. As I said in the last post, thanks for reading, and here’s to an even better year.

-Evan.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls (who really shouldn’t have any reason to read this post), welcome to Culture War Reporters’ year in review.

Thanks to your fanatical devotion, we here at CWR have completely and utterlysmashed our previous goal of a daily viewer average of 150, and currently have a total number of views exceeding 51,000.

While this is doubtlessly a result of our combined awesomeness, I’d like to also imagine that our host of new installments has something to do with it- this past Fall having seen the advent of “Fame Days”, “Shame Days”, and “Evan and Gordon Talk”– all of which have been resounding successes.

Frankly, I feel we deserve a round of applause.

On top of that, we’ll be taking a well deserved break here at CWR- but don’t worry, we’ll be back the second week of January.

See you then.

-Gordon.

Shame Day: Yours Truly

First thing’s first: I’m currently paying $0.19 a minute for internet right now, so I don’t have a lot of time. Secondly, I’m writing this from the floor of the Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thailand. I’m waiting for my flight to Chiang Mai, in the north, where I will be spending Christmas with my family.

Due to these developments there will probably not be an “Evan and Gordon Talk” for tomorrow, or at least not one that will be on time. I will also be posting an official update as to when Culture War Reporters as a whole will be taking a break, because I think we both deserve one.

Thanks for now for all of the readership we’ve been getting, especially the traffic that’s gotten my post on Aveline de Grandpré to number three on Google. That’s pretty amazing, and I’m glad I was able to write something that can reach so many.

That’s it for now, guys and girls. Time [and money] is a’ wasting.
