David Goyer is the Worst, And We’re On A Break

So this post could be the logical continuation of my Shame Day post on Akira, which focused on Hollywood’s complete lack of respect for a film they’re looking to remake. David Goyer, a man I already cared very little for as a screenwriter, said some disparaging things about She-Hulk in a podcast [which from my understanding has since been edited somewhat]. He went on, however, to insult comic book fans everywhere, with the words:

“How many people in the audience have heard of Martian Manhunter?”

<pause>

“How many people that raised their hands have ever been laid?”

I could certainly delve into this much more, but Chris Sims over at ComicsAlliance already has, and done so quite well. Check out what he has to say, because he smartly points out that the one who just said these things has a hand in the future of DC’s cinematic universe. I’ll bring everything concerning that terrible man to a close with the following two panels-

Anyway, as the title of this post would suggest, I have some blog news for you all. Continue reading

2012: The End

Not of the blog, of the year. Or posts for the year, to be more specific. I just got back from two days camping to see that the world had not ended, which was marvelous news. Life, and the internet, as we knows it moves on, and so does Culture War Reporters.

As I am currently in Thailand for the holidays, and both Gordon and I are sorely in need of a break, this will be the last post of 2012. A lot has happened, but I’m going to leave that up to my co-writer, as he’s responsible for a lot of them. As I said in the last post, thanks for reading, and here’s to an even better year.

-Evan.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls (who really shouldn’t have any reason to read this post), welcome to Culture War Reporters’ year in review.

Thanks to your fanatical devotion, we here at CWR have completely and utterlysmashed our previous goal of a daily viewer average of 150, and currently have a total number of views exceeding 51,000.

While this is doubtlessly a result of our combined awesomeness, I’d like to also imagine that our host of new installments has something to do with it- this past Fall having seen the advent of “Fame Days”, “Shame Days”, and “Evan and Gordon Talk”– all of which have been resounding successes.

Frankly, I feel we deserve a round of applause.

On top of that, we’ll be taking a well deserved break here at CWR- but don’t worry, we’ll be back the second week of January.

See you then.

-Gordon.

Shame Day: Here’s Looking At You, Kid

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls and weird little kids who you can’t tell what gender they are- we here at CWR have an announcement.

We’re expanding again.

That’s right- we’re going from three days a week to five days a week, cramming in “Shame Day” posts on Tuesday (in which we do a little blurb about stuff we think is terrible) and “Fame Day” posts on Thursday (in which we do a little blurb about stuff we think is awesome).

Before you get too worked up, let me jump right into things and reveal the topic of our first Shame Day.

That’s right, it’s you.

Don’t get us wrong- it’s great that you visit the CWR, and that your ever-increasing adoration has helped us reach our goal of averaging 150 hits a day. We’re cool with that.

What we’re not cool with is some the more common search terms that get you to our blog. Let me recite some for you:

“Cartoon sex”

“Dakota Fanning Playboy Naked”

“Batman having sex”

“Teen titans sex”

“Evan and Gordon Porn”

That’s right- someone actually searched for “Evan and Gordon Porn.”

That’s ****ed up, people. That’s just downright nasty.

Let’s elevate the conversation, shall we?
