Hiatus Extended

So, as you can tell by the title of this post, we are extending our hiatus.

That’s not to say that there will be no posts today- expect one from Gordon and one from myself sometime during this week.

We will be back in full-force on Monday, June 10th, exactly two years after I first purchased [rented?] this domain name. Seems fitting.

I end with a gif of a people-powered Ferris wheel:

Late Post Today, The Best Way To Lead In To A Hiatus

I write this over an hour before I have to leave for work, realizing that I don’t have nearly enough time for the quality of the post I want to put together. That being said, I will have my Friday post up sometime this evening.

As you might have noticed, things have been a little shaky here at Culture War Reporters lately. Heck, most mornings I’ve felt a lot like this lady over on the right. That’s why I’ve decided to do something drastic.

Well, “drastic” may be too strong a word. After my post this evening we will be taking an entire week off, with possible updates if something particularly newsworthy happens. We will be back in June after I’ve spent some time updating Shame and Fame Day posts with their respective graphics, getting caught up on proofreading, etc.

TL;DR – After a post tonight we will next be updating in June. See you then and, as always, thanks for reading.

No-Post Friday

If you only know how busy I’ve been. Not only did I just finish up writing a freelance article for a two-page spread, it was an entire day late. I’m also over a week behind on my Gender in Comic Books course, and suffice to say, I-

Tomorrow I will be leaving from work midday to head down to the States to attend a graduation at my alma mater. This will make writing stories for my writing group’s weekly prompts nearly impossible.

In a lot of ways, life is behaving like Marine gunnery sergeant and Iraq War veteran Stephen Roberts [I am the football player, attempting to write a blog , uh, play football]:

Really, though, this is just a bunch of excuses punctuated by mildly entertaining gifs. Next week should be better, so stay tuned for a bunch of posts about race and movies, because I am all about that [and had planned to write about that today].

“White Washed Tombs” or “Shame and Social Pressure”

Yours truly is not one to shy away from railing on things I doesn’t like. Or people, I dislike, for that matter. Over the past few months I’ve offered the middle finger to TLC and NBC for their exploitative and repellent shows, ISPs, nationalism, the British monarchy, and one especially vile lobbyist group dubbing itself “Concerned Women for America.” In fact, that last group was so downright nasty I straight up likened them to cancer in the form of a social movement.

And you know what?

I stand by that.

No Post This Morning [What Does That Mean?]

Hey guys and girls, I really wish there was a more casual way to refer to members of the female gender that was on par with the term “guys.” I mean, honestly, I’m at the point in my life where I’m 22 and I no longer know whether I’m supposed to tell my friends that I saw a girl or a woman on the streetcar earlier in the day.

Anyway, to get to the point, this week has been a kick to the body as far as the blog goes. I’ve had a lot of work to do, and when I wasn’t doing that I’ve been playing through the Heart of the Swarm campaign. So it’s just been a big ol’ kick to the body.

A kick. To the body.

That being said, I haven’t even looked over the posts for this whole week, which I always do to fix all of the typos in Gordon’s posts and making sure he’s tagged them “Gandhi” and not “ghandi.” I will be doing all of that tomorrow, and I will also be finishing up said StarCraft II campaign.

I may have a post up late tomorrow. No promises.

My productivity has bowed before THE QUEEN OF THE BLADES.

Evan and Gordon Don’t Talk This Week

Actually, we did. I mean, we’re pretty good friends; we more or less get in contact for a couple minutes every day. The strength of our friendship aside, when we did talk the following conversation arose:

This is us talking about maybe blogging last night.

The joy I feel at having people digitally spitting in Gordon’s face notwithstanding[and leaving out his next comments about said people], I too was disappointed to see that our votes for this week looked like this:

Untitled-1

As I said, I thought it was funny. But it is also horrible.

The vote for “Other” was “What the church is doing wrong/right,” and I’m glad someone decided to take the opportunity to suggest a topic to us. Our break this week is largely because of the way the votes turned out, compounded by the fact that Gordon is getting over an illness and I am not used to working a 9 to 5 [yes, I work now].

I will likely be trying to garner suggestions via Facebook in the days between now and next Wednesday, and hopefully that gives us some new material to work with and discuss. As always, feel free to leave a comment, maybe offering a topic we can talk about next week.
