There are a number of Twitter pages I could have focused on today, from the subtly hilarious to the judiciously-minded, but none of those address a pretty hefty issue a lot of us young people find ourselves bumping into.

Now I know that there’s a certain degree of irony attached to this post. Just now you read my question on why people don’t read anymore. I’m not really talking about reading in the the sense of skimming the occasional article online, though. Before anyone tries to point it out- yeah, I’m aware that the medium for communication has shifted a lot since video is now accessible to pretty much everyone.
I’m talking about books, people. When did we stop reading books?
I would go bankrupt buying books with gifs for illustrations…
I can’t count how many times I’ve been reading a book in public and people act as if I’ve started cleaning a black-powder musket.

EVAN: Ladies, gentlemen, those who fall into neither category [I’ve been taking a course on gender], tonight Gordon and I will be talking about what most everyone in the world has to do to get by, and that is work.
As a topic it spun out organically from our conversation on naps and time, and it’s hard to discuss the hours in the day when such a large chunk of it is spent at one’s job.
GORDON: More specifically, it was through a general observation that too often, our work simply isn’t fulfilling.
This is certainly something we can all relate to; Evan and I in particular, having scrubbed down dorm toilets for minimum wage.
EVAN: Oh yes, the very high New York state minimum wage of $7.25.
GORDON: And yes, we were paid by the hour, meaning the better we were at our job, the less we made.

Hey guys and girls, I really wish there was a more casual way to refer to members of the female gender that was on par with the term “guys.” I mean, honestly, I’m at the point in my life where I’m 22 and I no longer know whether I’m supposed to tell my friends that I saw a girl or a woman on the streetcar earlier in the day.
Anyway, to get to the point, this week has been a kick to the body as far as the blog goes. I’ve had a lot of work to do, and when I wasn’t doing that I’ve been playing through the Heart of the Swarm campaign. So it’s just been a big ol’ kick to the body.
A kick. To the body.
That being said, I haven’t even looked over the posts for this whole week, which I always do to fix all of the typos in Gordon’s posts and making sure he’s tagged them “Gandhi” and not “ghandi.” I will be doing all of that tomorrow, and I will also be finishing up said StarCraft II campaign.
I may have a post up late tomorrow. No promises.

Actually, we did. I mean, we’re pretty good friends; we more or less get in contact for a couple minutes every day. The strength of our friendship aside, when we did talk the following conversation arose:
This is us talking about maybe blogging last night.
The joy I feel at having people digitally spitting in Gordon’s face notwithstanding[and leaving out his next comments about said people], I too was disappointed to see that our votes for this week looked like this:
As I said, I thought it was funny. But it is also horrible.
The vote for “Other” was “What the church is doing wrong/right,” and I’m glad someone decided to take the opportunity to suggest a topic to us. Our break this week is largely because of the way the votes turned out, compounded by the fact that Gordon is getting over an illness and I am not used to working a 9 to 5 [yes, I work now].
I will likely be trying to garner suggestions via Facebook in the days between now and next Wednesday, and hopefully that gives us some new material to work with and discuss. As always, feel free to leave a comment, maybe offering a topic we can talk about next week.
