EVAN: Alright, ladies and gents, tonight Gordon and I are going to talk about a subject that may just help blot out the memory that was Man of Steel, and that is: fat people.

It was his suggestion, so I’m going to pass things off to him and get the ball rolling [no pun intended].

GORDON: More specifically, it’s the treatment we seem to offer the overweight in this country. I’m guessing you’ve seen at least one heftier person riding around the aisles of a grocery store in those little scooter things.

Shame Day: Sequels For Sequels’ Sake

It should be no mystery to us that a lot of movies aren’t made to be good. As a broad generalization, many of the films put out are intended to simply make money. To really hammer this point home I like to point towards Cars 2.

Cars 2 was a Pixar milestone, and the first of their films to beat its predecessor, Cars, in a particular category. It was the movie that garnered a 38% on Rotten Tomatoes, an abysmal score significantly lower than the first movie’s 74%.

As someone who’s seen every film the studio has ever done, I was disgusted by the fact that they would create a sequel to what was ultimately my least favourite of the bunch, but then I understood-

This really says it all. I’m not really going to explain this any further.

Money money money. $10 billion dollars of Cars toys, bed sheets, clothing, toothbrushes, the list goes on. So clearly sometimes ratings can be down, if profits are up. But what about when this isn’t the case? Continue reading →

Fame Day: Edward Snowden

As you probably well know, I’m the last person on this blog to write about politics. Gordon has that well under control, if the first two posts of this week are any indication. On that note, I feel that I fall into the category of “politically ignorant” in quite a few ways. I’ve never voted, for one.

There are a few reasons for that, of course, such as my living overseas and then being a Canadian attending college in the States, but the fact of the matter is that I know very little about even my own government. Heck, I can tell you more about the state of the politics at DC Comics right now more than the Harper administration.

In a lot of ways, simply being friends with Gordon keeps me up to date. Well, that and the snippets of news I hear when my granddad is watching TV and I’m on my laptop. I knew about this Snowden guy, and that he’d leaked some classified info, but Gordon told me something that I didn’t know:
